Stop! / 2003
Just your ordinary video store around the corner: A woman enters, grabs a videotape and goes to the counter. She pulls a gun and asks for money. "Quick, quick, quick!" The cashier looks anxious and hands over the money. But just when she turns around to walk away, the cashier pulls a shotgun and fires. Is it for real? Apparently not, because someone shouts: Stop! and we suddenly find ourselves on a film set. The director seems to disagree however with the decision to stop shooting. She reflects on the situation. Then, just few moments later, the director is lying in bed. Was the film set real? Was it fiction?

Nel dicembre 1983 i Talking Heads si esibiscono al Pantages Theater di Hollywood. Jonathan Demme riprende il concerto e lo trasforma in un evento cinematografico (è il primo film musicale a impiegare la registrazione digitale in presa diretta) dove le canzoni della band newyorkese si fondono a una scenografia sviluppata in movimento. David Byrne è il primo a entrare in scena.

Per sfuggire alle grinfie della prima e realizzare il suo desiderio si trasferisce a Greenwich Village dove conosce una grande varietà di persone: si trova una ragazza, Sarah, un lavoro come commesso e diventa amico di Bernstein, un nero omosessuale, Robert, un commediografo e la sua fidanzata Connie (che si invaghisce di Larry) e Anita, una giovane con manie suicide. Tra una visita alla madre e un provino la vita va avanti, Sarah resta incinta, ma decide di abortire e Anita si uccide. Poco dopo questi due eventi Larry viene lasciato dalla fidanzata che lo pianta per fuggire in Messico con gli altri tre. La vita non sembra sorridere al ragazzo, se non che una telefonata lo chiama ad Hollywood per un lavoro.

Prague, 1983. The communist regime, in a suffocating atmosphere ruled over by the secret police, imposes "normalization". Miki and David need some kind of motivation to carry on in the communist wasteland. They discover The Clash's album 'London Calling' and, of course, decide to set up a punk band. But playing punk during normalization in Czechoslovakia isn't the best idea, an opinion shared not only by their horrified parents. Many decisions made under the influence of cheap alcohol and compulsive music could be more fatal than they initially seemed. A story about the revolt of some 18-year-olds against authority, against social norms, against adult duties and responsibility. It is about the search for one's own models and values. Although based on personal experiences from the early 1980s, it could have taken place at any time and anywhere, and is more than likely taking place somewhere right now.

Uno psicopatico generale dell'aviazione USA, deciso a salvare il mondo dal complotto comunista, è pronto ad attaccare l'Unione Sovietica con armi nucleari. Uno dei pochi capolavori di satira politica nella storia del cinema che riflette gli incubi apocalittici dei primi anni '60. Il più forsennato e meno controllato film di Kubrick con Peter Sellers in 3 ruoli al culmine del suo istrionismo. Non vinse nemmeno uno dei 4 Oscar cui era candidato. Dal romanzo Red Alert (1958) di Peter George che lo sceneggiò con Terry Southern e il regista.
