Il film della Varda, premiato con il Leone d'oro a Venezia nel 1985, è costruito con una serie di flash-back. Parlano le persone che avevano conosciuto la ragazza prima della sua morte inspiegabile. Dalle testimonianze vien fuori il ritratto doloroso e commovente di una giovane ribelle che aveva scelto di vivere senza tetto né legge.
