In Brizan, a peaceful seaside resort in the Landes, everything changes with the arrival of a first Wave : a surge of clouds which will cause the disappearance of surfers. The first in a series of phenomena that the inhabitants of this small community will be confronted with, disrupting their intimate lives.

Mentre è in corso una terribile ondata di maltempo, l’avvocato David Burton (Richard Chamberlein) ha strani sogni ricorrenti nei quali un aborigeno gli appare e gli mostra una pietra misteriosa. Un collega chiede a David di difendere un trio di aborigeni accusati di averne ucciso un quarto in una banale rissa. David scopre che uno dei tre, Chris Lee (David Gulpilil), è il nativo che gli compare in sogno. Cerca di scoprirne di più e viene a sapere che la morte dell’aborigeno è dovuta al fatto di aver rubato reliquie religiose. Il maltempo peggiora e David si rende conto che qualcosa di terribile e di magico sta per accadere.
