Jin-soul, who is just beginning to gain a reputation as a writer with her novel, Human in a Natural State, meets a woman, named Nan-ryeong, at a reading session held at a local bookstore in Gangneung. Nan-ryeong has also written a novel, titled 'The Women Who Brush Their Teeth Outside', influenced by Jin-soul. Jin-soul, who feels a strange sense of connection to Nan-ryeong, reads her novel on the train returning to Seoul. A story of two people who somehow overlap. But, while Jin-soul has been cleverly hiding behind a pseudonym, Ju-ok, Nan-ryeong is open about who she really is. Eventually, the insidious relationship between the two is exposed, and cracks begin to form in Jin-soul′s seemingly happy life.

The Moon by Our Teeth / 1967

The film follows William, thirty-ish, out of work and looking for a new life after apparently having been thrown out of his previous one. He meets up with Noelle, who seems intrigued by his restlessness - until her economist boyfriend shows up. Yet plot details do little to convey the power of the film, which lay in its capturing the anarchic texture of William's life - a life whose lack of direction was read as a rebuke of the Swiss myth of orderliness and self-satisfaction. With his roots in documentary, Soutter excelled at creating a loose, vibrant cinema, full of quick zooms and dynamic hand-held shots, with dialogue that often alternated between outright quotations and stylized interviews.

Joon-young is a middle school student from an ordinary middle-class family. He meets Young-ok in the same school following an accident in which he gets his two teeth broken by the baseball bat Young-ok was swinging. The accident reveals that Young-ok is from North Korea. Nevertheless, they are drawn to each other. One day during a basketball game, Joon-young’s classmate find Young-ok and make fun of him for dating a North Korean girl, which Joon-young strongly denies. Out of guilt about being indifferent to Young-ok, he comes to her class to find that she is absent. The film deals with the level of awareness of people from North Korea among South Korean natives, and describes the delicate affection between humans beyond the background.
