Lonely Runners: Moving On! / 2019

The story of the extraordinary friendship of three great Slovak modernist poets who formed the legendary literary group "The Lonely Runners" in 1963. The group’s existence was announced in the manifesto “The Merits of Three-legged Nightingales” and their motto posited that “the good angels of humanity return to our minds and feelings – frankness of speech, nobility of intentions and righteousness of deeds”. Physically, they parted ways: Peter Repka moved to Germany in the 1970s, Ivan Laučík lived most of his life in the peaceful Liptovsky Mikulas and Ivan Štrpka in Bratislava. Even though their meetings were rare, their friendship held strong despite all obstacles. Their work is still considered one of the most important in modern Slovak poetry. The film follows a meeting of these three giants of poetry and their journey together, during which they meet with friends and visit places important to them. A story of an inspirational friendship.

Bruno è un marito e padre affettuoso ma inaffidabile. Per usare le parole di chi lo conosce bene, è "inconcludente, superficiale, distratto, illuso e sognatore": tutte caratteristiche pericolose nell'era della crisi, in cui trovare un lavoro stabile per chi è "senza competenze" e con troppi grilli per la testa diventa una missione impossibile. Dunque Bruno passa le notti a pulire con lo scopettone i pavimenti di un museo romano, insieme all'amico di sempre Salvatore, che gli dà corda in tutte le mattane - come quella di mettere su un delfinario nel lago di Bracciano - pur capendone l'irrealizzabilità. Un servizio televisivo sul curling, disciplina sportiva non troppo lontana (agli occhi di Bruno e Salvatore) dal loro lavoro notturno, accende nuovamente l'immaginazione dei due, che decidono di candidarsi nientemeno che alle olimpiadi in quella specialità...

And always searching: For a new city, a new job, an own apartment, a new, or even an old love. The search is never-ending, and so they repeatedly find themselves at a ritual gathering: someone moving. Boxes are shifted from one side of Berlin to the other, or the length and breadth of Germany, from one abode to the next as one life is exchanged for another. In 3 ZIMMER/KÜCHE/BAD, director Dietrich Brüggemann portrays existences in which relationships, social networks and backdrops are in a constant state of flux; where best friends are the only, and therefore the most valuable constant. Humorous sketches of the self-conception of a generation for whom moving has become the symbol of a life on the go.

We're Moving the Colonel / 1955

The dynamic Flora has decided to burglarize Colonel de la Ribodiere's apartment in the company of Romeo and Clotaire. The two men discover the old soldier lifeless on his bed. One after the other, the colonel's goddaughter Annette, the gendarmes and their brigadier, the Grivier cousins, who are sniffing out the inheritance, and the three thieves, who are hoping to get their way, pass by each other and avoid each other in the house. La Ribodière isn't dead, but he listens to what's being said, forms an opinion about everyone, ousts the Griviers, rewards Annette with a betrothal to Clotaire, and gives Flora and Roméo absolution.

Satoshi: A Move for Tomorrow / 2016

Satoshi Murayama, the shogi (Japanese chess) master known as the arch-rival of Yoshiharu Habu, the shogi genius of the century, died of an intractable disease at age 29. Satoshi devoted his life to fighting not only the disease but also his rivals, feverishly pursuing the highest title, at risk to his life. Director Yoshitaka Mori (Hyakuhachi (2008), Space Brothers (2012)) depicts Murayama's true struggling life, full of love from his parents and teacher, based on the non-fiction novel written by Yoshio Osaki. Kenichi Matsuyama intensely portrays Satoshi and physically embodies the character.
