My Father, the Bride / 2019
Toka returns to the island she grew up to attend her mother's second memorial service. She finds out that her father Seiji is wearing her mother's clothes. As if that doesn't come as enough of a shock, Seiji even tells Toka that he is getting married again to a man named Kazuo. The film explores the particular incident and the life of the island people with a humorous touch.
The Miracle of Father Malachia / 1961
"Wunderbar" takes on a new meaning in this routine satire by Bernhard Wicki about a bar that is miraculously transported by God Himself to a nearby, new location on an island. The nature of the miracle is a bit strange, but it comes in answer to Pater Malachias' prayers to get the sin-ridden place out of the center of the city. The good and naive Malachias is subtly played by Horst Bollimann. Once this miracle of relocation has occurred, the sharks and entrepreneurs, who would bilk both the faithful and the curiosity-seekers alike, crop up like an unwanted epidemic. The mercenary and the sacred clash, as many try to find deeper meaning in what has happened, and Pater Malachias starts to doubt the wisdom of his original prayer.
The Tyrant Father / 2022
This remake of the 1940 film with the same name tells the story of a theatre company, its men and women in love, mistakes and misunderstandings. Chico loves Tatão, who is courted by Artur. Graça loves Chico, but doesn't know he loves Tatão. Santana writes a play for the Grandelinhas that will serve as a guide to Chico passion and convince Tatão that he is a rich count. The play is then staged and they all end up in prison.

In un villaggio nel cuore delle Dolomiti vivono Domenico, un ragazzino sveglio ma introverso, e il padre Pietro, un uomo consumato dalla solitudine e dal vino. Il rapporto tra padre e figlio è difficile, i lunghi silenzi li hanno trasformati in due estranei. Una notte la tranquillità della valle viene minacciata dal diaol, il diavolo, un orso vecchio e feroce, che getta la comunità in un terrore superestizioso. Una sera all’osteria in uno scatto d’orgoglio, Pietro lancia una sfida: ammazzerà l’orso in cambio di denaro. La sfida viene raccolta tra le risate e lo scetticismo generale. È l’occasione che Pietro aspettava da tempo, il mattino dopo, senza dir nulla a nessuno parte per la caccia. Domenico lo viene a sapere e decide di seguirlo. Padre e figlio si immergono nei boschi, sempre più a fondo, fino ad esserne inevitabilmente trasformati e il muro che li separava si sgretola nell’immensità della natura.
