Follow Mick Fanning as he cruises Coolangatta, Jamie O'Brien living large on the North Shore, and Nathan Hedge at home in North Narrabeen. Share a day in their lives and then join them on The Search as they explore a remote island chain in the South Pacific. Along the way WINDOWS reveals some of the most stunning surfing visuals ever captured on celluloid, from Manoa Drollet towing in at Teahupo'o to Kieren Perrow charging a mysto reef in North West Australia. All the action is accompanied by original music composed for the project by Sydney percussionist and renowned Shark Island charger Terepai Richmond and long-time collaborator Sam Dixon. Additional tunes include emerging Australian rockers Jet (described as "No. 1 must-see band... one of the best things we've heard all year" by NME magazine) and Los Angeles alternative hip-hop trio Black Eyed Peas.

Silent or with minimal sound, Hill's early formalist works explore the manipulation of electronic color and image density through the camera obscura and image processing devices. Of these tapes, Hill has written that "much of the subject matter and the expressionistic method of working underline and in some sense parody the traditional medium of painting." In Windows, the image of windows in a darkened room is digitized, densely layered, and otherwise abstracted in a series of graphic compositions.

Routine schedules and cruel fate determined who was cooking, setting tables, washing dishes or serving guests at the renown Windows on the World Restaurant at the top of One World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001. Most of them were immigrants, and they came from all over the world. When they perished, their families and colleagues had to deal not just with their loss, but with a broken immigration system that classified many of them as "illegal." The survivors tell their stories of that day, and the days that followed, in Windows.

“Windows” documents the views of and out from windows around JoAnn Elam’s Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago. The first section begins at an El train stop, capturing the station itself and the views of people playing tennis as seen from the moving train. A switch approximately halfway through the runtime moves the action to downtown Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain and then Logan Square as filmed through Elam’s window screen. The shapes of the buildings finally abstract into geometric forms on film.
