Where Can I Live tells the story of neighborhood activists who organized to stem the tide of gentrification that began transforming Park Slope, Brooklyn from a mixed working class neighborhood with many single-room occupancy boarding houses to a middle and upper class enclave. The film 1983 film, which was broadcast on WNET Channel/Thirteen and unfortunately is still very relevant in the new millennium, explores both the nitty-gritty organizing techniques of residents and the economics and philosophy of gentrification itself in wide-ranging interviews with developers, city planners and organizers.

Francesca (Emmanuelle Devos), cinquant'anni, è l'unica figlia di Manfredi (Giulio Brogi), un famoso architetto che da quando è vedovo abita a Torino e che lei va a trovare solo in rare occasioni. Francesca si ritroverà così a collaborare con Massimo (Fabrizio Gifuni), un uomo sulla cinquantina che ha basato tutta la sua vita sulla sua carriera di architetto. Dopo un primo approccio difficile, tra Massimo e Francesca piano piano nasce una grande sintonia professionale e un sentimento che li porterà a confrontarsi veramente con se stessi e i loro più autentici destini.

Stillness, observing and the absurd are the secrets behind Ilse Aichinger’s poetry, as brought to life in the film WHERE I LIVE. Figures from stories come to life in a house, whose stories sink in upon themselves. Also, never before shown Super-8 footage shot by Aichinger, inspires awe at our ability to find ourselves, as well as the ways in which we find ourselves. Taking a sensuous approach, the film engages with Ilse Aichinger’s work, which stands out in the 20th century for its singularity whilst remaining timeless in its existential dimension.
