It takes us into the minds and hearts of a group of idealists and careerists as they take their separate paths in life. These people will tell you that they are the best of friends. They believe they are from the same country, yet in the privacy of a room, they are apart, alone and in a state of exile.

How shall we comfort ourselves. / 2022
The tragicomic tableau vivant documentary "How shall we comfort ourselves." explores the endless human search for meaning. Using repurposed church buildings as the theater and everyday events as the play, we take a step back and observe humanity's absurd ways of dealing with life. From hardcore parties to yoga sessions, and from a morning mass to a gym. Hopeful coping-mechanisms we use to escape the emptiness of life. Captured within the walls of that which used to provide us with fixed frames of reference and collective meaning: the church.
Can we not be so self-centered and keep our experiences to ourselves? Diasporic Remembrances of Fasia Jansen / 2022
We gathered to remember the Black german activist Fasia Jansen. Fasia was born in 1929 in Hamburg as the illegimate daughter of white german maiden Eli Jansen and liberian consul Momolu Massaquoi… Having had to witness the suffering of Jewish Women in the Camp of Neuengamme, where Fasia herself had to do forced labour, Fasia dedicated her life to different political struggles. Fasia Jansen was active in women*-, labour-, anti-atom- and peace movements. Her contribution to these movements is an impressive collection of protest songs. Our longing was to relate to Fasia from a Black queer Perspective, to understand her positionality and hence to negotiate ours. We did so by gathering and re-enacting her songs and spirit. Our choir – the Fasia Jansen Ensemble – is a spiritual invocation.
