"Though its point is somewhat vague, it is both visually and sonically one of the most compelling exercises in the tradition of lysergic films of the 60s. Sympathetic but subtly critical, Vertige presents itself as a psychological portrait of the escape and/or contestation tactics of the decade's youth: while war, violence, famine and poverty continue to devastate the planet, these youngsters seek refuge in the hedonistic haven of sexual liberation, lysergic research and communal fictions. Richly textured visuals and bold scenic montage are some of the key elements in Vertige, but it is Serge Garant's fine contemporary soundtrack, and its intimate rapport with the scenic rhythms, that catapult the film beyond the conventions of psychedelic cinema. Famed as a pioneer of contemporary music in Canada, Garant provides am eclectic score that ranges from atonal symphonic exercises to psych-rock, concrète and electroacoustic soundscapes. La bella Laura Hunt è trovata assassinata nel suo appartamento di New York con una revolverata che le ha sfigurato il viso. Il tenente McPherson indaga, appassionandosi al caso in modo ossessivo. Da un romanzo di Vera Caspary, sceneggiato da Jay Dratler, Samuel Hoffenstein e Betty Reinhardt. Film di culto per gli amanti del cinema nero: eleganza, decadenza, perversione, crudeltà, umorismo e una forte vena di necrofilia ne fanno un cocktail unico. Il motivo di David Raksin (“Laura”) incanta ancora oggi. Uno di quei film felici dove tutto concorre al risultato finale: regia, sceneggiatura, fotografia (J. LaShelle, premio Oscar), scenografia, musica. Alcune scene furono dirette da Mamoulian, poi sostituito dal produttore D.F. Zanuck con Preminger. 3 minuti tagliati poco dopo l'uscita del film sono stati reintrodotti in certe versioni video.

Uno scandalo che ha travolto non solo il suo partito (PT, Partido dos Trabalhadores, dei lavoratori, fondato, anche da Lula, nel 1980), ma anche la parte avversaria, ovvero esponenti del PSDB (Partito della Social Democrazia Brasiliana, nato nel 1988). E che continua, nonostante la scarcerazione di Lula a film finito, a perseguitare l'ex presidente per vie penali.
