A plane explodes above the Gulf of Guinea. An escort girl is murdered in a Parisian park. Thousands of miles separate these two events, and yet Nora Chahyd, believes there's a connection between them, much to his superiors chagrin. As Nora investigates, getting dangerously close to the powers that be, the murders and betrayals accumulate, and signs point to a state affair at the heart of it all.

Culture ... an affair of state, it is a historical novel journey to the heart of the Fifth Republic Cultural Affairs of France. Malraux, first holder of the ministerial office in 1959, to Catherine Tasca, in 2002, the film tells the scenes of major events during the cultural policy of the state: the case Langlois around the Cinematheque Landowski case-Boulez on the reform of music, the construction of Beaubourg, the Louvre, the conditions under which the music festival has been decided or that the cultural exception publicized. From archives, interviews or testimony, it is a political reading of unexpected contemporary artistic life which is at issue here.

Negli anni Quaranta l’icona della musica jazz Billie Holiday collezionava successi in tutto il mondo, mentre il governo federale statunitense decideva di trasformare la Holiday nel capro espiatorio di una dura battaglia contro la droga prendendo di mira la sua fragile e complicata vita. Il fine ultimo delle azioni intraprese contro la cantante non era però legato alla droga, ma impedirle di eseguire la sua straziante ballata “Strange fruit”, grido di denuncia contro i linciaggi del governo degli U.S.A. e contributo essenziale per il movimento per i diritti civili.

Leave No Traces / 2021

Polonia, 1983. Il Paese è scosso dal caso di Grzegorz Przemyk, uno studente liceale picchiato a morte dalla milizia. Ispirato a fatti realmente accaduti, il film ripercorre la storia di Jurek, l’unico testimone del pestaggio che, da un giorno all’altro, diventa il nemico numero uno dello Stato. Il regime tirannico mette in moto l’intero apparato – servizi segreti, milizia, media e tribunali – per annientare Jurek e le altre persone coinvolte nel caso, inclusi i suoi genitori e la madre di Przemyk, Barbara.
