Per smascherare Tortuga, uno dei capi-pirati, implicato nel traffico degli schiavi, il generoso Gordon, detto il Pirata Nero, si reca a San Salvador, base dell'iniquo commercio, nascondendosi sotto le mentite spoglie di un proprietario di piantagioni. Gordon, allorché smaschera Romero, il segretario del Governatore, quale responsabile della tratta degli schiavi, è accusato da Tortuga ed imprigionato. Ben presto Gordon è liberato da Manuela, la figlia del governatore. Costei, a sua volta, per ritorsione è catturata da Romero e da Tortuga. Gordon dovrà affrontare pericoli e nemici per liberarla.
