In a seemingly near-future control room devoid of people, various readouts and calculations suggest that humankind is not altogether compatible with the grand scheme of the universe. 1968. Color.

‘Synthesis Live’ è la testimonianza del Synthesis World Tour degli EVANESCENCE - 29 show in Nord America, 4 in Oceania e 18 in Europa tra la fine del 2017 e l’inizio del 2018. Per il Synthesis tour la band ha portato sul palco un’orchestra per eseguire nuovi arrangiamenti sinfonici dei loro brani più conosciuti, tra questi i maggiori successi come Bring Me To Life e My Immortal. ‘Synthesis Live’ è stato filmato e registrato nell’autunno del 2017 al Grand Theater di Foxwoods, Connecticut; il concerto è appunto una reimmaginazione delle canzoni degli Evanescence più amate dai fan, con particolare accento ai virtuosismi pianistici ed alla voce di Amy Lee, supportati dalla combinazione di orchestra e band. I nuovi arrangiamenti donano una nuova dimensione alle emozioni e alle storie delle canzoni degli Evanescence.

Granular Synthesis: Sweetheart /

In the 1996 work entitled »Sweetheart« one sees a close-up of the head of the performer Akemi Takeya. The slow movements of her head and her mimed expressions are the result of resynthesizing the smallest of sound and image units. The intense show of emotion depicted here is produced synthetically, and yet it triggers real emotions in the viewer. »Sweetheart« lasts 15 minutes and was produced for a short film program of the Austrian TV network ORF.

Granular Synthesis are the new media, video art, and music duo Kurt Hentschläger and Ulf Langheinrich, who take their name from the practice of sampling "microsounds" (audio clips lasting 1 to 50 milliseconds) to create new compositions. Part of a series of video and installation pieces, "Sweetheart" features a single close-up of performer Akemi Takeya. It was produced for the Austrian T.V. network ORF.

Only with exquisite machines--spacecraft in orbit and powerful computers on the ground--can humanity begin to uncover the elegant nature of our complex home. Presented here are a collection of data visualizations based on observations gathered by a fleet of spacecraft. In various depictions we see the currents of the world's oceans, changes in temperature and land cover over time, and precipitation as it cycles energy and water around our living planet. But The Earth is only one part of a dynamic sphere, and with its companion The Moon nearby, we cannot hlep but remeber that our whole planet travels in a wider ocean. This video presents Earth's Moon with data gathered by the remarkable Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter, an advanced probe designed to map our planetary companion in unprecedented detail.

Granular Synthesis: Modell 5 / 1994

MODELL 5 is a performance or installation in which the face of Japanese performer Akemi Takeya is subject to drastic time-based interventions that create in essence a cyborg-like hybrid, between human and machine. A roller coaster dramaturgy following the "life" of the four clones on screens. Using a technique derived from the principals of the sound design technique called "granular synthesis" but applied to the rather fat grains of single video frames (visual content and sound), Granular-Synthesis manages to evoke from a few expressions on the face of the performer Akemi Takeya, a frenzied exploration of the alter ego within touching distance.

The Central Dogma: From Genomic Information to Protein Synthesis / 2008

This animated film was made by RIKEN Omics Science Center for the "Beyond DNA" exhibition at the National Science Museum of Japan. The filmmakers attempt to illustrate how molecular machines interact with each other according to the central dogma, with an anime look. This approach helps people (especially kids) to identify these molecules more easily, and to understand how they function in the body. There are two versions of the film: one with English narration and text, and another in Japanese.
