Brown è l'eccellente protagonista di questa commedia dalle tinte sentimentali che vede un truffatore professionista convincere un'intera cittadina australiana dell'esistenza di un tesoro sepolto. L'ambientazione aussie dona un certo carattere al film ed è parte integrante della storia, rendendolo di fatto quasi un ozploitation; i toni sono comunque più contenuti rispetto ad altri lavori satirici della madrepatria e allineati con il cinema americano del periodo, sfruttando i buoni sentimenti di una tipica vicenda in cui la simpatica canaglia si dimostra migliore degli avidi paesani.
