Nella fattoria dei Frake fervono i preparativi per il viaggio alla Fiera dello Stato del Texas. Giunti sul posto Margy, la figlia di Abel Frake colpisce, per la sua bellezza, un presentatore della televisione e dal canto suo rimane colpita e affascinata dalla sua intelligenza e dalla sua spigliatezza. Il fratello di Margy, Wayne, a sua volta, si innamora di una ballerina. Dopo una serie di vicende, nel corso delle quali, la madre vince il concorso per la migliore salsa e Wayne perde una gara automobilistica, i nostri tornano alla fattoria.

Melissa and Jim Bryant live on an Iowa farm with their adult son Chuck, their adult daughter Karen, and their teenage son Wayne, who is a high school sophomore. Wayne is a talented singer and guitarist who dreams of country music stardom. Karen, newly separated from her husband, has recently rejoined the family with her own young son Tommy, who misses his father. This was a pilot film for a proposed television series that was not picked up.
