Star for a Night was a British television singing competition. It was originally commissioned for a pilot on 26 June 1999. This did very well in the ratings and it soon was commissioned as a series that ran from 8 January 2000 to 20 October 2001. It was presented by Jane McDonald. The judges were Nigel Martin Smith and Barbara Windsor.

Star for a Night was a Philippine singing contest produced by Viva Entertainment and broadcast by IBC in 2002. The host was Regine Velasquez. The show venue was in a studio of GMA Network Center. The grand finals took place in Ultra in Pasig City.

Miyazawa is an idealist pledging with his friend Kanai to work for the improved life of farmers. Troubled by his family’s interest in money making and social status, he leaves home after graduating high school to join a Buddhist sect in Tokyo. After falling out with a friend, and receiving news about his sister re-emerging pneumonia, he decides to return home where starts his own experimental school, teaching new farming methods to young local farmers while also instructing them in music and arts. It was only after his death, through the help of his brother Seiroku, that his writings became widely read.
