Di notte però Scrooge viene visitato da tre fantasmi: uno gli fa rivivere la sua giovinezza, l'altro lo porta a casa di Bob e il terzo gli prospetta un lugubre futuro. Al suo risveglio Scrooge non sarà più lo stesso. Musical natalizio tratto dal classico racconto di Dickens. Vale la pena vedere Finney come Scrooge e Guinness che fa lo spettro.

A causa della sua ossessione per il guadagno e per l'oro il suo impiegato Bob Cratchit vive in umilissime condizioni economiche ed ha un figlio con un piede nella fossa. Una sera, la vigilia di Natale, Scrooge congeda come al solito Cratchit e si avvia verso casa sua. Entrato comincerà per il vecchio un viaggio ultraterreno di profonda conversione spirituale per redimersi dai suoi peccati, cominciando dalla sua infanzia fino all'anno presente. Alla fine Ebenezer Scrooge diventerà un altro uomo, più buono e più felice della vita.

Paperone spiega loro che il risparmio è solo il primo passo e procede a raccontare la storia della moneta dal baratto fino alla carta di credito, poi passa a spiegare alcuni fondamenti dell'economia come l'inflazione, il budget e le tasse. Quindi avvisa i nipoti che il denaro, per poter crescere, dev'essere sempre in movimento. I nipotini non vogliono più che il loro denaro rimanga fermo, così Paperone decide di farglielo investire e li porta nella sua sala consiglio (di cui lui è l'unico componente) dove cerca di spiegare loro come funziona una società per azioni. I nipotini non ci capiscono nulla ma si fidano dello zio, che fa firmare loro l'investimento chiedendo però tre centesimi di parcella per la sua consulenza.

It was released in November 1901. As was common in cinema's early days, the filmmakers chose to adapt an already well-known story, in this case A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, in the belief that the audience's familiarity with the story would result in the need for fewer intertitles. It was presented in 'Twelve Tableaux' or scenes. The film contains the first use of intertitles in a film.
