Elsa Lundenstein, laureata in medicina, uccide l'anziano amante, colpito da un male incurabile, dopo averlo assistito per due anni. I sette giurati che devono esprimere il verdetto sono influenzati sia dalle loro diverse convinzioni etiche che dagli accadimenti che hanno segnato le rispettive esistenze. La donna viene condannata a cinque anni di prigione. Pochi? Troppi? È stata fatta davvero giustizia?

This documentary re-creates the momentous Frankfurt trial. Rolf Bickel and Dietrich Wagner build the film around taped testimony from more than 200 Auschwitz survivors. Twenty-two former members of Hitler's SS, many of whom had carved out comfortable lives for themselves in postwar West Germany, stood trial in 1963 before 360 witnesses who accused them of murdering millions.
