Per sfuggire alla guerra che sta sconvolgendo l'intera Europa, la famiglia Robinson decide di partire a bordo di una nave per raggiungere una terra lontana in cui ricominciare da capo e in cui siano validi i principi di pace e di aiuto reciproco che loro vogliono osservare. Durante la navigazione, però, un tifone fa naufragare la nave e l'intera famiglia Robinson riesce a salvarsi guadagnando la costa di una meravigliosa isola tropicale.
