Joe Tomasso is an Italian-American bookmaker and gambler who, outwardly, is hard but soft-hearted inwardly. He becomes fond of a homeless waif, Jackie Curtis, and begins to look upon him as the son he never had. But when Jackie's mother appears, Joe has a hard decision to make.

"This dates from 1972 and 73. Frustration and anger in the nation and the world. Nothing new about that. The eternal return, and yet a reality unknown to a child. I have featured children in many of my films and the 'Loss of Innocence' theme is often present or implied. The film involves sound that goes both forward and backward, images of American football violence, a lot of scraps going around and around to nowhere. RACETRACK is about the Belmont Race Track, one of the world's leading race tracks for thoroughbred racing. The film highlights the training, maintaining and racing of thoroughbred horses. Everyday occurrences are shown: in the backstretch — the grooming, feeding, shoeing, and caring for horses and the preparation for races; at the practice track the various aspects of training, exercising, and timing the horses; at the paddock — the pre-race presentation of the horses; and in the grandstand — betting and watching the races. The film also has sequences showing the variety of work done by trainers, jockeys, jockey agents, grooms, hot walkers, stable hands, and veterinarians.

Races at the New Racetrack in Belgrade / 1914

Great races of the “Danube equestrian group“ were held on the 27th May 1914 upon the old Calendar (the 9th June 1914 upon the new Calendar) on the occasion of opening a newly built race course in Belgrade outings spot called Topcider. That afternoon five horse races were held, of which four were recorded on the film tape. The atmosphere of the hot summer afternoon was captured in the film; also, there were recorded crowded grandstands, exterior of the King`s pavilion and Belgrade elite that gathered in this place, where ladies distinguished themselves with their lavish dresses.
