Surf music came out of Orange County California in the late fifties and early sixties. It exploded the radio waves along the coast line to become one of the most iconic genres of musical history. From the West to the East, Surf Bands were popping up everywhere. One such band to emerge was a group of 12 to 14 year olds out of LA. These kids loved surfing, the beach, girls and most importantly... Surf Music. They were The New Dimensions and this is their story!

This film was originally made in black-and-white 3-D for the 1939 New York World's Fair, and proved so popular that it was remade in 1940 in color and 3-D.

L'inizio è riservato alla "A Trip Through the Pyrenees" di Peter Finger, davvero mozzafiato, ma la raccolta riserva molte altre perle: un video degli anni '60 di Jorma Kaukonen e Jack Casady (cioè gli Hot Tuna) con "Hesitation Blues", Bert Jansch in una calda versione di "One for Jo", John Fahey che canta con il suo vocione "Poor Boy" mentre pizzica una Gibson L-00, mentre Adrian Legg arpeggia velocissimo la sua "Midwest Sunday". E' davvero stupefacente poter vedere questi grandi della chitarra suonare come sanno dal vivo, senza trucchi nè alcun progetto didattico a modificare le loro esecuzioni.
