At the avant garde of modern technology, these strange travellers are actually immobile, and their vessels are powerful and spectacular telescopes, on the Earth or in space, constantly widening the limits of our knowledge and giving form to our dreams of infinity. From Hawaii to Australia, via South Africa and China, we set out on an incredible scientific and human adventure to visit the planet's greatest cosmic exploration centres to discover the new challenges involved in understanding the universe. A journey of 42 days aboard a cargo container carrier, CMA-CGM Fort Ste Marie results in a filmic diary which is written between the departure and the return to Havre, the flow of days 's linked. In the continuity of the route, the infinite horizon of the Atlantic, stops in Central America and in major ports of the northern range, commercial operations - loading and unloading of containers, life on board ... are visual material and sound of the film.

Christ Walking on Water / 1899

Showing the rolling sea, upon which gradually appears a cloud of mist. From this evolves the figure of Christ, who proceeds to walk on the waves. The rolling movement of the water and the sudden apparition certainly give a most startling effect, illustrating the biblical miracle of Christ walking on the water.

The Waves of the Danube / 1960

Ciulei’s second feature recalls the best of Fritz Lang and Michael Curtiz in its WWII-era espionage tale, set on a barge transporting Nazi munitions up the Danube. Ciulei himself givers a superb performance as Mihai, the barge captain forced to navigate the heavily mined waters along with his new bride, Ana (Irina Petrescu). As the journey wears on, Mihai becomes increasingly suspicious of one of his crew, ex-convict Toma (Lazar Vrabie), and his intentions towards Ana. But Toma has a far graver—and potentially deadly—secret to conceal.
