In a sad manner it tells us a humorous story of a man living double life: one of a beaten little clerk, humiliated by his arrogant boss, imperious wife and misbehaved descendant; the other of a spoiled hero of a dream empire full of beautiful and tender women, flowers and fantastic figures. From artistic point of view is the film based on Adolf Born's lithographs.

Elena and Lucas are a happy couple with their son Hugo. Elena has a very coherent and organized imaginary world since her childhood, where she goes to feel safe and meet two friends: Leslie and an old ludicrous and crazy man. She shares this secret only with her husband and they have incorporated this particularity to their daily life. One day, Elena follows her husband's advice and takes her son to a new pediatrician for a basic check-up. Once there, she learns that the doctor is actually a psychiatrist and that it is her whom he wants to see. He explains to her that he husband revealed to him the existence of her imaginary world and that it puts her in a delicate situation for the custody of Hugo in the divorce Lucas has started. Her life is shattered: the more she talks about her world, the more frightening it gets. She doesn't feel safe anymore in it and starts suspecting everyone. She sinks into paranoia.

The cycle of life. A boy whose father is a pilot imagines that his toy plane becomes the real thing, allowing him to fly side-by-side through the heavens with his father. He takes off from a tree house overlooking the sea and his father's landing strip. Their flight is graceful and full of adventure. Then, we watch the boy grow, study, marry, father a child, and become, himself, a grandfather. Holding a toy plane, he takes his grandchild to the same cliff from whence his own imagination took off years before.

Nel 1600, prima dell'invenzione della fotografia, lo scienziato Girolamo Fumagalli, ossessionato dall'idea della riproduzione di immagini, scoprì che uccidendo una vittima e rimuovendone la retina (dove si diceva venisse impressa l'ultima immagine scorta dalle persone) era possibile imprimerla su stampa. Fumagalli diede a questa tecnica il nome di 'Thanatografia'. Oggi questo macabro rituale viene commesso in una scuola spagnola di cinema. A Bruno e Arianna, due studenti, il compito di scoprire il mistero celato tra le mura di quella scuola.
