Convinto di essere Don Giovanni, il giovane De Marco si appresta al suicidio dal cornicione di un albergo di New York. Interviene lo psichiatra Jack Mickler, che dal colloquio col ragazzo scopre la personalità complessa e tormentata di un seduttore involontario, più simile al Don Juan del poema di Byron che a uno sfrenato donnaiolo e libertino. Abbandonato l'insano proposito, in un finale onirico e quasi sconcertante, sarà il giovane a trascinare lo psichiatra nel suo mondo fantasioso, facendogli riscoprire emozioni dimenticate.

Estate 1914. Roger, sedici anni, va a trascorrere le vacanze nella villa del padre. Il ragazzo si trova a stretto contatto con una serie di donne sensuali o sessualmente insoddisfatte: la prosperosa cameriera Ursula, una matura contadina, la governante britannica della sua sorellina, un'altra cameriera, la sorella più grande e persino una zia zitella. Nel frattempo scoppia la Prima guerra mondiale, e Roger si ritrova ad essere in pratica l'unico uomo di casa. A conflitto ultimato, tre delle ospiti della villa sono incinte. Tutte e tre convolano a nozze, mentre Roger se ne torna a casa.

Twenty-two-year-old Oleg doesn’t live up to his mother Marina’s idea of a real man. She thinks he’s an autistic loafer. He’s enrolled at the University of Nizhny Novgorod and is supposed to be watching online lectures, but his mother says all he actually does is hang around watching TV. Oleg doesn’t have any need for friendships, either. Marina wants him to improve his life and subjects him to a series of unconventional treatments. In one particularly uncomfortable scene, we see the therapist riding him as if he were a horse. Another psychiatrist tells Oleg how useless he is and that he will always be alone. Strangely enough the camera seems to be welcome everywhere, and it closely follows these dramatic developments.
