By using techniques such as direct manipulation and optical printing, this work was meamorphosed from found fotage originally existing as a documentary film on Ancient Greece to it's existing form. This short pieces is the result of an independent study with Jean Théberge as my advisor. My approach was to subject the original film to constant experimentation as would an archeologist, peeling and re-layering scenes by means of collage, referencing the original images under multiple layers of psychedelic imagery

New Towns, Arrival Cities - Same Same but Different / 2019

This film features six old and new generation pioneers in New Towns across Western Europe. Although the cities differ in many ways, they all experience challenges due to increasing migration of foreign workers, refugees or asylum seekers. The film depicts their quest to revive the spirit of urban and social innovation of the early days of their foundation.

These are just two of a tapestry of eccentrics and oddballs in Oscar-winning director Zaritsky's light-hearted but insightful look at people who have shrugged off conformity to become richer individuals. Inspired by psychologist David Week’s book Eccentrics: A Study of Sanity and Strangeness, Zaritsky’s film suggests that letting our freak flags fly and releasing our inner eccentrics could make us happier, healthier and live longer than those who try to pass as "normal."
