Days to Remember / 1987

They meet in Yugoslavia. Katharina, daughter of a Yugoslavian immigrant worker, has grown up in the Federal Republic of Germany. She is a confident, energetic career woman who has managed to work her way up to become a successful television journalist. She goes to visit her parent's country, to do a story about the children of immigrant workers in their home country. Although she says she doesn´t need a "home" any more, even she feels strange in her own country. Peter is a rather "untypical" sort of man: a dreamer, a thinker. He has given up his steady job as a composer for advertising films and is divorced. He goes to Jugoslavia to find something out about the past. He travels to the places where his father was stationed during the Second World War.

Ines, stanca di restare chiusa in casa, va in una sala da ballo, nonostante l'opposizione del marito e incontra Franco con il quale balla e Adriana può finalmente fidanzarsi con Otello. Franco cerca in tutti i modi di riconquistare Adriana e complice una fuga in moto i due si rappacificano.

A Firenze assistono a una gara di calcio e al matrimonio, celebrato da Dante, tra la Venere di Botticelli e il David di Michelangelo. In America e in Giappone girano turisticamente. In Russia sulla Piazza Rossa assistono, a una sfilata e anche a manifestazioni di dissenso. In metropolitana giungono a Parigi.

A subtitle warns, "beware of dark sunglasses." Anna and her lover, whose looks in bowler and bow tie are reminiscent of a young Buster Keaton, kiss chastely on a bridge overlooking the Seine. He dons sunglasses and waves as she runs down a stairway to the river's edge, then watches in horror as she's knocked flat and loaded into the back of a hearse. In vain, he gives chase. Disconsolate, he buys a large funeral wreath and a handkerchief from sympathetic vendors. He removes the glasses to wipe his eyes and realizes they are the cause of all his woe. He replays the farewell without the glasses.
