Tehran, A Conceptual Art / 2012

This film is a modern rendition of a long tradition of so-called “symphonies of a metropolis”. The glassy facades of this city’s skyscrapers reflecting the passing by people of its diverse districts, shown in the reflection of distorted mirrors, symbolically depict the Spirit of a metropolis, as if it lives in its own shadows and reflections. This distorted reflection of Tehran comes together with modern verses of a poet who was known as the Poet of Tehran after publishing his illustrious cycle of poems about Tehran in the 60s. As a flâneur, the poet himself saunters around this city -through his voice/poem/memory- reflecting upon the reflections of old/modern monuments, sculptures, statues etc. of this giant metropolis.

Akira Okuda worked as an assistant at the Visual Concept Planning Department of Kanagawa University of Arts, accomplishing his work aimlessly without passion. Sorrounded by students who continually caused problems and professors who cared only about their position in the university. One day, three students attempted to steal film equipment from the vault. Fearing the news would reach the university office, the professors ordered Akira to cover up the attempted theft. But, little did he know more was about to happen...

Vanessa, a documentary filmmaker, and she is making a film about folklore. Her best friend Brad was meant to help her, but he instead decides to go on a date with new love Jessica, who he met online. His new girlfriend persuades Vanessa to join him by telling her the house is haunted and would be a good subject for her film, but it turns out she has been lured into a trap and she is a creature from Hell. Quite how she will be impregnated by a female demon will be revealed in the movie.
