Both macabre and lyrical, these five experimental short films focus on the darkness and decay of death. Taking their cue from the work of experimental pioneers such as Andy Warhol, these visual meditations explore the limits of avant-garde filmmaking. "Adoration" links love and cannibalism; "Pig" examines the mind of killer; and "Le Poem" melds an autopsy with an Arthur Rimbaud poem. Other entries include "Hollywood Babylon" and "Dislandia."

Rain does not caress the skin, the wind resists blowing, a soul is like a doll forgotten in the house of glass. Tikhon Pendurin’s piece “Death of Cinema” is a dream of a film, the process of falling asleep, a frozen cosmos, the liturgy of a sigh. Fotogénie, a return to the forgotten magic of magician Segundo de Chomon, the mystery of Val del Omar, Alain Resnais surreal theatricality “Death of Cinema” seems to absorb all the magic of cinema and confesses its own forgetfulness. The characters of “Death of Cinema” stand before the justice of truth, naive children turned with pride away from the audience. Here, the main thing is the hallucination of light, a whisper, a prayer, the bewildered physiognomy of cinema, which allowed itself to laugh at its own seriousness. (by Karina Karaeva)

The Death of Cinema and My Father Too / 2021

When Yoel hears about an imminent Iranian military attack on Tel Aviv, he knows what to do - escape with his family to a safe haven in Jerusalem. His son Assaf, who is a filmmaker and about to become a father himself, wants to give Yoel one last lead role in his movie by melting the fictional world into bittersweet reality.
