Bambou / 2009

Alain hopes to have a baby with his wife Anna. However, Anna believes she is destined to become a famous pianist rather than a housewife and mother. Everything changes when they adopt a female puppy named Bambou. After successfully passing an audition, Anna leaves on a concert tour with a world famous conductor. Being apart takes its toll on the couple and they decide to break up. Alain finds himself alone, without a wife or a baby--just a dog, that he is not sure he wants to keep.

The Bamboo Stroke / 1963

Albert is the irremovable waiter in a small bistro that has just been sold by his former bosses, Angèle and Léon. Angèle, having forgotten the ten million paid by the notary in a cab, prefers to feign madness rather than incur her husband's wrath; but Léon, in turn, eventually learns what has happened to his money, goes mad and kicks out the honest cab driver who comes to return the lost sum. A phone call from the police station later informs Albert that the money is at his boss's disposal; but as the boss is now in an institution, Albert borrows his identity papers and goes to collect the money - which he pays in full to the pari-mutuel betting house. After a series of shocks and counter-shocks, Angèle and Léon regain their senses enough to watch for the outcome of the race, and share with Albert the final winnings, which are very substantial.

"Bamboula": this word was chosen in the 1980s for a chocolate cookie well known to children at the time. In 1994, he sponsored an Ivorian village set up in the Port-Saint-Père zoological park south of Nantes, where children and adults lived in a zoo to offer their folklore as a show to visitors. This documentary film, narrated by Jean-Pascal Zadi, gives a voice to those who lived in this African safari and to those who fought for their dignity

Laos, 1866. Hirondelle d’Or, a mysterious spy, follows closely the Mekong exploration mission led by Captain De Castel. As the expedition moves deeper into the country, the young woman and the military man attract each other, become closer and fall in love. The botanist Odile Dubuisson and her daughter Marie explore the jungles of northern Laos, 150 years later, following in the footsteps of their illustrious ancestor. Referring to a poem by the explorer: On the branch of the bamboo / The larva of the butterfly / One day will become a flower, Odile understands that he has seen the giant bamboo bloom. She also understands that the giant bamboo will bloom again. This is the perfect opportunity for her to witness a rare event. From then on, the story intertwines present and past.

The Jawi are the descendants of the former Malay sultanate of Patani, annexed in 1909 by Siam (became Thailand). Since then, the situation has been generating a bloody endemic guerrilla in these provinces of Southern Thailand. The memory of the famous past hindouist kingdom of Langkasuka, predecessor of Patani, is still living among the Jawi, in the guise of their legendary and divine White Elephant with Black Tusks.
