Julia è una nobildonna affetta da un tumore maligno e consapevole di morire. Decide di trascorrere i suoi ultimi giorni in Italia a Lignano, prima del suo ricovero in ospedale. Appena arrivata nella lussuosa villa, vede in un programma televisivo, un giovane uomo che ricorda di aver conosciuto e che infatuato di lei, le aveva lasciato il proprio recapito telefonico. Valerio è un giovane ingegnere, sposato non felicemente. Julia propone a quest'ultimo di passare diversi giorni insieme. I due si innamorano vivendo così momenti di passione. La donna però non rivela il suo segreto a Valerio, per non rovinare i loro momenti felici e per non ricevere pietà.
