Rockpile: Live at Rockpalast / 1980
Rockpile recorded their installment of the German TV show Rockpalast in January 1980, a few months before the appearance of their lone LP, Seconds of Pleasure, but at that point, the quartet were a fixture on the new wave scene, touring constantly and appearing on solo LPs by their co-leaders Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe. All this is a roundabout way of saying that Rockpile wasn't hurting for material: they drew heavily upon Edmunds' solo records in particular -- 13 of the songs on this 17-song setlist appeared on one of Dave's LPs -- interspersing a few rock & roll oldies along with songs from Nick, plus a showcase for Billy Bremner

Blindside Blues Band - Rockpalast Crossroads / 2010
The blindside blues band to mastermind Mike Onesko belongs to the top of the power-Blues. Rarely the blues of similar to hard 'n' is interpreted currently heavy as of this combo. Classic 'old school' is equipped with hardest riffs and powerful fills them. Oneskos game is trained to guitarists like Jimi Hendrix and Robin Trower, also cream or deep purple fall to benchmark - the spectacular musicality of everyone never gets to the end in itself, but is always the band subordinates.

Nina Hagen Band: Live @ Rockpalast / 1978
Since her solo debut in 1978, Nina Hagen has been considered the enfant terrible of the German music scene. Their shrill performances like the one on December 9, 1978, in Dortmund's Westfalenhalle remain unmatched to this day. There she and her band (the later Spliff) underlined their deserved status as the "Godmother of Punk".

The Charlie Daniels Band: Live at Rockpalast / 2012
Daniels has a strong voice, both literally and figuratively, showing why the CDB has so much clout in the country market. It makes me ponder how strange it must have been in the audience of Westfalenhalle Dortmund in Germany, on that November 28, 1980 night, and hear their jingoistic “In America.” I mean this tune is directly in Toby Keith territory. The audience seemed to enjoy it.
