The Land of the Wandering Souls / 2000
In 1999 a fibre-glas wire was installed from Thailand to Vietnam straight trough Cambodia. Rithy Panh shows us the work done in Cambodia to connect Khmer-society to "modern world". Farmers, soldiers and children work for a living there and unearthen skulls and bones -their remains from PolPot-regime you can see. The fear in their mind is portrayed by Rithy Panh in this documentary. As the other work done by Rithy Panh this deals with his people. I like it very much! The movie was awarded 1999 at "Visions du Réel" in Nyon (Switzerland) and at "Cinéma du Réel" in Paris.

A Drifting Man and A Wandering Girl / 1989
A young man travels around in a truck while turning an 8mm camera. In his hometown in Kansai, he meets a high school girl. The film tells the story of the moratorium of youth through the connection of seemingly unrelated episodes between the young man and the girl. A truck driving through the city, a teacher from high school, an exchange with the girl. The film is full of transparency, with a conscious interplay between black and white and colour, as if it were a mental picture of the young man himself. In the last scene, the girl turns the 8mm camera on herself, and her face, enveloped in light, is refreshing.
Wandering of Three Brother and Sisters / 1962
YU Pi-hsia, mother of three children asks for a favor from CHANG Nieh-tien to save her husband in jail. When YU’s husband is killed, she is forced to marry CHANG. The three children are raised by their uncle, who treats them as his own. Their aunt, however, treats them like slaves. When the uncle discovers she is having an affair, he kills his wife and her lover. Before turning himself in, he reveals to the three children their true identities and tells them to find Da Fu Temple and learn kung fu. The three children begin a journey of revenge and rescue.
