No One Knows I’m a Dog on the Internet / 2023

A short film that explores digital taboos, kink subculture, and ideas of privacy in an age of twitter porn and onlyfans. Referencing the 1993 New Yorker cartoon by Peter Steiner, Nate King performs and composites an online identity of puppy play, a popular underground kink expression in LGBTQ+ spaces. King questions if we are able to share ourselves online while still retaining a sense of privacy. Despite being out as a gay and queer man over a decade and having explored pup play and other kink for years, King highlights a his own self-consciousness toward others finding out about his sex life. The piece is a way to unabashedly claim that space and recon with his own self judgments.

It might just be the full moon, but a BOY is sad because he does not understand other boys, and their desires. Both lust for him but one feels no CHEMISTRY and the other likes his LEGS but does not want to meet. Confused he shaves his head, makes his body the internet, so through him they can ‘online’ date until a new full moon appears… and with it hopefully some clarity. Examining the queer millennial shift into online dating, pop-astrology philosophy and ever present effects of a pandemic that stripped us of touch, this film is a reflection of modern gay romance.

The Untold Story: Internment of Japanese Americans in Hawaii / 2012

Within 48 hours of Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii authorities arrested several hundred local Japanese in Oahu, Maui, and Kauai. Within a few months over 2,000 men and women of Japanese ancestry were arrested, detained and incarcerated in Hawaii and later sent to the Department of Justice and War Relocation Authority camps on the continental U.S. There was no evidence of espionage or sabotage and no charges were ever filed against them. While the story of mass internment of Japanese Americans in California, Oregon and Washington has been well documented, very little is known about the Hawaii internees and the confinement sites located in Hawaii. This is the first full length documentary to chronicle this untold story in Hawaii's history.
