Simbolo di questo mondo è il manicomio e una parola che ricorre spesso nelle cartelle cliniche: 'Marasma'. Per i medici 'marasma' era una diagnosi. Uno stato di profondo deperimento organico, di estrema magrezza, di perdita totale delle forze. Nelle cartelle cliniche, prima che la legge Basaglia venisse approvata, si trovano molte morti per “marasma”. Lo dicono le cartelle cliniche, che oggi ci svelano le storie più difficili: quelle degli ultimi tra i più deboli, i bambini e le donne.
