In one scene a masculine group is gathered on the shore talking about hooking up with girls, before one person jumps in the water to reveal top surgery scars. In another, a belly dancer twists in the desert, kicking up dust and sand before lifting their veil to reveal a moustache.

They listen the collapse of the silenced ruins, while watching the death of Albert Speer’s legacy. They capture the wind with their shake movements, revealing the voices that were separated from the language, the noises that were extracted from the objects. 7 limbos turns its eyes to the spectator and invites him: “Come dance with me, don’t bring anything” 7 limbos is a sound journey through the veiling of the spectral that passes through the membranes of visibility.

Sitting in Limbo / 1986

The National Film Board of Canada was one of the guiding forces behind Sitting in Limbo. Fabian Gibbs plays a black Montreal college student forced to leave school when his girlfriend Pat Dillon becomes pregnant. Gibbs resents this interruption in his plans, but he becomes a very good provider. The responsibilities of parenthood, alas, irreparably damage the boy-girl relationship. Filmed in a quasidocumentary manner, Sitting in Limbo seems predestined to win film festival awards--as indeed it has.
