There has been very little written about Herman Stern and his goal to save relatives, extended family and even strangers from possible death and persecution in the 1930’s in Nazi Germany. This project focuses on Herman Stern’s leadership skills and desire to help all in society as well as his civic and economic contributions to North Dakota. Video Arts Studios has produced an award winning video documentary as well as an accompanying lesson plan for schools, which have been distributed electronically to North Dakota schools via the ND University Systems. The video has also been made available to North Dakota libraries, museums and service organizations.

The film follows the journey of two other climbers in the team. Jangbu Sherpa, a mountaineering guide with 18 years experience in the Himalayas, and his client Karma Tenzing, a social entrepreneur with no mountaineering experience or training. Despite having lost many friends and family in the Himalayas, 15-time Everest summiteer Jangbu has to continue climbing in order to support his family. As their journey continues, the two face multiple challenges and have to make few last minute decisions to avoid serious obstacles. Overcrowding on Everest was a harsh reality in 2019, and Jangbu and Karma had no way but to deal with it to complete their mission.
