Servant's Entrance / 1932

Helga Breder is a young, spoiled girl. To her beloved Jörgen she says that she, as a modern young woman, is multi-talented and can do whatever she likes. Jörgen bets that she can't work as a house-maid but, if she manages it, he will buy her a diamond ring. Helga becomes a house-maid at Vinger Mansion and falls in love with an inventor, Bertil Frigård, who lives there.

This is only made of copyright free sources. A lot of data such as documents, sounds, pictures and moving images from the World Wide Web was gathering to play the Old Grimm Brothers' story. Recently, I have been interested in copyright free sources. I worked only with them and wanted to create an ironic situation in which I made my own work with copyright. In the meantime, I read and I founded death, liberation and release in the mysterious setting of characters and conversations. It seemed like an autobiographical story about copyright free sources. I combined these two to talk about source that lost its owner or died and became ghosts.

Herr Puntila and His Servant Matti / 1960

This first film adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s play about class distinctions was made in 1955 in the Vienna Rosenhügel studios, but it was only premiered five years later. Curt Bois plays the rich capitalist Puntila who only becomes somewhat agreeable when he is drunk (which he is most of the time in this film). In his inebriated state, Puntila not only gets amorously involved with three different ladies but also suggests that his daughter Eva marries his chauffeur Matti. The chauffeur, however, doesn’t really agree…

Master and Servant / 1962

Manas is hired to work for master Tatos till the spring, "when the cuckoo will call". There is one condition of the contract: if anyone of them gets annoyed with another, he loses everything. Unable to stand the day-and-night work for stingy master, Manas leaves without a pense of salary for months work. Next servant who knocks at Tatos's door is Manas's small brother, smart Simon.

Russian puppet cartoon 2007, created at the studio "Pilot". Director Elena Chernova created it based on a Tatar folk tale. A similar story is found in the folklore of the Greeks, Kazakhs, Crimean Tatars, and Turkmens (among the Turkmens and Kazakhs, it is included in the cycle of jokes and fairy tales about Aldarkos, and among the Crimean Tatars, the main protagonist of the fairy tale in Mikhail Bulatov's retelling is Khoja Nasreddin.)
