The Last Performance / 2021

December 22, 1986: Two sisters, dancers, return from a show. In the back seat of the car, there is a small child. A fatal moment will mark his life forever. 35 years later, in an ordinary moment of his daily life, a pianist, while looking for a forgotten melody, digs up traumatic memories of the past. He is 44 years old and blind. In the submerged darkness, an empty frame in the hands of the hero, takes us back in time. It leads him to the haunted, forgotten melody and brings him out of the darkness in a lyrical and unexpectedly liberating way. The trauma, miraculously, becomes one with the keys of the black piano and leads to cleansing. There is a melodic journey to the light, a journey into the spotlight of the last performance.

This movie is a documentary about Parviz Yahaghi, one of the most famous composers and musicians in Iran, who became isolated after the revolution due to the conditions in Iran. Born in 1935, Parviz Yahaghi, was a regular on the radio show 'Golha' from a young age. Several pre-revolutionary singers such as Mahasti, Homeira and Marzieh became famous for his songs, and with the sound of his violin, many fell in love with Iranian music. He became isolated after the victory of the revolution, although his music was never isolated. Parviz Yahaghi died in February of 2007. The film looks at his life in his own words and in the last years of his life.

From May 2001 to February 2002, transsexual performance artist Mirha-Soleil Ross appeared pregnant every time she was in public. This video features Mirha-Soleil performing pregnancy by the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco and an audio recording of her mother speaking about the ups and downs of having a baby. Created as a part of Mirha-Soleil Ross' performance art cycle: The Pregnancy Project. The Pregnancy Project explores some transsexual women's relationship to the personal and institutional aspects of motherhood and hopes to foster community discussion around controversial reproductive technologies.

This film documents a performance by Taku Furusawa, acting as the Aoyama Outpost of the Kingdom of Lilliput under the influence of Matsuzawa associate Shō Kazakura. Furusawa also acted in the underground theatre group Theater Yakōkan (Night Theater), which had ties with Matsuzawa as well, and in his later years was active under the name Kubikukuri Takuzō, but this film is a valuable document of his early convulsive performance.

How to Do Things With Words (A Legal Performance) / 2011

The video shows the artist getting married in her working studio in Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. The studio is built to resemble the official marriage room of the registration office in Helsinki where people have half an hour to get married with the presence of two witnesses. The video deals with the theatrical aspect of a wedding ceremony by using different elements like lighting, movement of the camera and the expressions of the performers – who are playing a familiar act but in an unfamiliar situation.

During the reign of Shogun Iemitsu, a great martial arts tournament was held to determine whether or not Iemitsu was to remain in power or cede it to his uncle, Yornobu, the 10th son of Ieyasu. Among the contestants were many expert swordsmen who have become well-known to this day. Warriors such as Yagyu Jubei (Kaga Takeshi), and Miyamoto Musashi (Matsukata Hiroki) headed up the slate. This was to be the all-star samurai match of the century. An amazing TV movie with non-stop action as Yagyu Jubei must save an emissary of the Ming and reach Edo in time to fight the crucial match.

Written in 1967, Sgt. Pepper’s was the world’s first concept album. The Beatles went into the studio, enthusiastically embracing the possibilities for experimentation that were blossoming at the time, and with no intention of playing the album live. Firstly, because they just didn’t feel like it (due to the hordes of screeching fans), but also because it was music that supposedly couldn’t be performed on stage, as it was too complicated. But that music just had to be played live at some point! Now The Analogues’ perform this masterwork live in all its analogue glory—an honor for which no effort has been spared with regards to a truckload of wild and wonderful vintage instruments. There’s a sitar and tabla drums for ‘Within You, Without You’, a rare Lowrey keyboard for ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’; a harp for ‘She’s Leaving Home’, plus, of course, a huge array of strings and horns. This is The Analogue’s quest to faithfully perform Sgt. Pepper’s live!...as The Beatles never intended.

Takeshita portrays every character by himself. He would recycle this concept a year later for Mito Kōmon tai Gojira.
