Gorillaz | Demon Dayz Festival / 2017

Demon Dayz Festival is a live Gorillaz performance that was held on June 10th, 2017 and was sponsored by Red Bull. The event was announced on March 6th, 2017 and was held at the Dreamland amusement park in Margate, Kent, England. The lineup for the Demon Dayz Festival included many of the collaborators on Humanz, such as Little Simz, Vince Staples, Kali Uchis, De La Soul, Savages’ Jehnny Beth, Danny Brown, as well as collaborators from previous albums.

On June 20, 2017, Gorillaz debuted an immersive 360-degree video experience in Cologne that fans all over the world were able to participate in. The show is a part of an album showcase series that includes similar performances in Budapest, Warsaw, and Katowice.

The girls and gorillas at a singing telegram company are overworked because it is Valentine's Day. A series of sub-plots - a sexist disc jockey loses his dog and the girls fine it; one of the girls fights for custody of her child; an aspiring opera singer gets her chance to audition; and evil developer demolishes the telegram company's offices, etc, which all adds up to a large dose of confusion.

Bermejo focuses her study on a magnificent 350-pound male she names Apollo and his family. Gorilla Milk documents the meeting between an artist, a YouTube vlogger, and a gorilla. Mixing recordings from the meeting with archival content from the vlogger’s YouTube account, the video explores the artist’s and vlogger’s similarities with, and projections onto, the gorilla. The conversation centers around the beauty of the gorilla, who suffered a severe drop in popularity when her breasts started sagging. The public and the caretakers lost interest. And after losing her fertility, even her troop rejected her. Gorilla Milk aims to discuss motherhood, body dysmorphia, and the life of a female in captivity —by the ideas of bystanders, audience, society, and caretakers.

Mustafa Qureshi, hen pecked to death by his demented wife, decides to call it a day with his day job at the Police station and induct his unemployed brothers to create a Mujahid (God's soldiers) trio whose sole aim is to seek out and destroy the despised Salman Rushdie before he manages to destory all virtue and decency on the planet.

Love Life of a Gorilla / 1937

This little-seen compilation 'educational' documentary from producer Samuel Cummins was an independently-produced jungle exploitation film typical of the 30s. It was inspired after the success of the pre-Code exploitation film Ingagi (1931) about gorilla-worshipping Congolese native women, and after the success of RKO's King Kong (1933). The film speculated that there was social/sexual intercourse or matings between African women and gorillas, after a Ubangi maiden was abducted by a gorilla and carried off into the jungle. It was considered scandalous and "off-color" by the Board of Review because of the theme of "the mating of women with wild animals and because of nude figures in the picture." The film included sensational content (ineptly interspersed with horrible stock footage) including a few shots of topless native women (censored versions superimposed fake ferns over bare breasts) and lusty gorillas (men in monkey suits).
