Design for Murder / 1939
When a wealthy, lonely university music student is beaten and has his apartment trashed by a fellow dorm resident-bully and his gang, he goes mad, lures the bully into his room on pretense of forgiveness, slips him a paralyzing agent in a drink, throws him in a trunk and locks him in, and taunts the bully with the promise that he will be buried alive in the trunk. Only, once he gets his trunk and his prey to his country estate, the vengeful victim finds things keep going wrong...

Film research of design in Russia. Many believe that a specifically Russian approach to design does not exist. But what if they underestimate the influence of culture, history and surrounding reality on the style and aesthetic guidelines of those who shape our visual environment? Natasha Klimchuk, Tim Cherny and Olya Morozova, leaders of the Bang Bang Education online design school, have assembled a company of 33 contemporary Russian designers. Among them are many famous names: Artemy Lebedev, Valery Golyzhenkov, Pokras Lampas, Anton Schneider, Denis Bashev, Oleg Pashchenko. They all speak and think in Russian and are inevitably inspired by what has become part of our everyday life, books, practices, rituals, holidays, economics, historical memory and fashion. With the help of these 33 guides, the almanac will try to find the features and boundaries of our national perception of beauty and look at what ethical and aesthetic values we carry to the world.

Adrian Frutiger: Typeface Designer / 1998
In his own special field as a designer of typefaces, Adrian Frutiger has left his mark on the second half of the 20th century. His professional peers speak of Frutiger as a living legend. To the general public however he remains unknown, even though every day they may come face to face with his work in one form or another, as lettering for texts, logos and corporate images for the post office, museums and institutions of all kinds, airports and metropolitan railways. Frutiger has never sought fame, only to design typefaces that are efficient and easy on the eye. In designing typefaces he does not attempt to be trendy. Letters are a tool, a vehicle for the transportation of thought.
