Hai cercato: The Window
The Bedroom Window / 1924
William C. DeMille, Cecil B. DeMille's talented director brother, teamed with his favorite collaborator, scenarist Clara Beranger, for the 7-reel silent The Bedroom Window. Essentially a by-the-book mystery tale, the film is lifted from the ordinary by the expertise of DeMille and the charm of leading lady May McAvoy. She plays the daughter of a murder victim, while Ricardo Cortez co-stars as the Accused. Cortez is saved from the chair by his aunt Ethel Wales, a mystery writer. The real culprit is...well, keep your eye on the least likely, most cooperative member of the cast.

The Horizontal Window / 2016
Glass occupies a position between fluidity and stasis – an amorphous element, integral in the production of moving images and architectural vistas, that actively distorts and transforms light. Filmed in a glass blowing factory, the interiors of Le Corbusier’s 1923 Villa Le Lac, and the surrounds of southwest Switzerland, The Horizontal Window intercuts two contrasting aspect ratios that parallel the primary apertures of Villa Le Lac: an 11-meter ribbon window facing Lake Geneva and a smaller, squarer unglazed frame cut into the exterior garden wall.
The Open Window / 2017
16mm film, 2017, 7 minutes. Like restless, waiting missiles, towering pillars of industrial machinery send us to the desolation of the lunar surface. — LS

The Window Appearances / 2020
During lockdown Imara made regular window appearances to post as looped videos on Instagram. Imitating the theatre that we couldn’t perform in or attend, these works express the inherent trapped-ness of lockdown. Here the appearances are combined, their natural soundtracks making a jerky music, and imitating a gig that couldn’t happen live.
By The Window / 2020

Through the Windows / 2019
A vivid trip down memory lane, Through the Windows celebrates San Francisco’s own beloved Twin Peaks bar. With its sky-high windows looking out onto the corner of Castro and Market, this landmark establishment stands not only as one of the gayborhood’s most beloved establishments but also as a testament to the revolutionary idea that gay people should be seen and celebrated rather than hide in the darkness of alleys and blacked-out windows. Whether you’re a regular who thinks of the bar as “Cheers for Queers” or a passerby, this snappy locally-produced documentary is chock-full of familiar faces and fascinating stories. Deeply personal interviews provide a history of this lesbian-owned bar as well as the Castro area—a blue collar Irish-Italian community in the ‘60s that became a gay mecca in the ‘70s, endured the health crisis of the ‘80s, and has served as a sense of home, family, and emotional nourishment for so many in our community every day of its 47-year history.

Behind the international success story of Amos Oz, a symbol of the Israeli conscience and a writer translated into 45 languages, lurked a double tragedy. The Black Crowes - Who Killed That Bird Out On Your Window Sill... The Movie / 1992
Who Killed That Bird On Your Windowsill...The Movie is an often hilarious insight into the inner workings of the Black Crowes--one that sees the brothers Robinson doing just about everything you'd expect from them: sneering at everyone, fighting with one another, at odds with radio programmers, but most imporantly, creating some of the best American rock music of the early '90s.
