Paco è di origine spagnola e fa il panettiere ad Algeri insieme all'amico Said. Paco è sposato con Alice e ha due figli, Antoine e Vincent. Alice ha una sorella minore, Angéle, che lavora con lei alla fabbrica Bastos. Angéle è molto attratta da Said e assume nei suoi confronti atteggiamenti provocanti, che sconcertano Alice. In fabbrica le condizioni di lavoro sono pesanti e vengono commessi molti abusi, anche di carattere sessuale: alcune operaie, fra cui Angéle, ne hanno abbastanza e cominciano uno sciopero. Intanto Alice e Paco sono diventati gestori della panetteria, ma la rabbia e la violenza stanno per esplodere con conseguenze imprevedibili.

L'arancia potrebbe non sembrare il punto di partenza più ovvio per un esame del conflitto israelo-palestinese, ma durante il secolo scorso l'area di confine contesa tra Israele e i territori è stata uno dei maggiori esportatori mondiali di questo "oro arancione". " In "Jaffa, The Orange's Clockwork", il regista Eyal Sivan ricostruisce come Jaffa sia nato come toponimo palestinese prima di diventare un marchio israeliano, e come la raccolta delle arance sia passata da un'impresa comune a un simbolo utilizzato da entrambe le parti nell'escalation del conflitto. Il regista utilizza una grande quantità di filmati d'archivio, dalle primissime fotografie del 1840 fino a video nitidi e moderni. Le immagini sono accompagnate dal commento di una serie di esperti, che le osservano proiettate sulle pareti dei loro uffici o sulle tovaglie appese nei loro soggiorni.
