Water and Concrete / 2016
“To me, Hong Kong represents a meeting of the two elements of water and concrete: the natural and manmade fighting for space whilst constantly permeating one another. For this film I tried to echo the mediations between what I interpreted as the ‘water’ and ‘concrete’ components of the nuanced musical composition."

Concrete Plaza / 2018
The Plaza Saint-Hubert was long shunned by the petty-bourgeoisie of Montreal for its too "kitsch" allure or the questionable choices of town planning which shaped the layout of its facades. However, the biome of the Plaza is no longer resisting the tendencies of gentrification that are affecting the city of Montreal as a whole. This short film focuses on the real open wound that is the repair site of the mythical Plaza. An incongruous universe where wedding dresses dance with mechanical shovels.

A charming story about a West Indian girl who moves to 1950s London. Marcia has spent most of her 11 years living with her Jamaican grandmother but is sent to damp, dark London to start a new life with her parents. Missing her gran terribly, Marcia is surrounded by bullying schoolgirls, racism on TV and a jealous younger brother... Only her favourite pop star will help her feel at home. Concrete Garden is a wonderfully observed graduation film from director Alrick Riley. With warm performances from a young cast and exquisite detail in the production design, this tender short film powerfully evokes the trials and tribulations faced by kids settling in 1950s Britain.

The Tower, A Concrete Utopia / 2015
One of the early landmarks of Belgian colonial urban architecture was the Forescom tower. Built in 1946, it was Leopoldville’s first skyscraper, and one of the first high rise buildings of Central Africa. Pointing towards the sky, it also pointed to the future. It embodied and made tangible new ideas of possible futures, and as such the tower materially translated and emblematically visualised colonialist ideologies of progress and modernity. The video The Tower: A Concrete Utopia offers a guided tour by ‘Docteur’, the owner of this remarkable tower situated in the municipality of Limete. Conceived and realized by ‘Docteur’ without the help of professional architects, the construction of this as-yet unfinished tower was started in 2003.
