And in Lav Diaz’ Butterflies Have No Memories (Philippines, 42min) ‘homecoming queen’ Carol returns to the economically depressed former mining town she came from – and becomes the target of an absurd kidnapping plot hatched by resentful locals. Serving as his own writer, cameraman and editor, Diaz casts the film entirely from members of his crew and delivers a well-seasoned mix of social realism and fantasy. —bfi

Solo all'ultimo momento si scopre che i gioielli della famiglia del cavaliere sono scomparsi: c'è tra questi la preziosissima reliquia che da sempre assicura fertilità e prosperità alla famiglia. Dopo i primi momenti di panico, si capisce che i gioielli sono stati dimenticati nel XX secolo durante il precedente viaggio spazio-tempo effettuato da Goffredo. Questi dunque si vede costretto a ripercorrere il viaggio dal Medioevo alla fine del 1900.

Nel 1123 nella Francia medievale di Luigi VI di Francia, detto "il Grosso", Goffredo Hamori di Malafesta, conte de Montmirail, d'Appremont e di Papincourt detto "l'Ardito" (Jean Reno), salva il re dall'attacco di soldati inglesi ricevendo come ricompensa di sposare la figlia del duca di Puy, sua innamorata. Messosi in viaggio con i suoi cavalieri e con il suo fido scudiero Jean Cojon "il marpione" (Christian Clavier), incontra e fa prigioniera la strega di Malaconca. Nei pressi del castello di Montmirail, la strega riesce a versare una pozione nella borraccia del conte provocandogli allucinazioni: egli vede la sua promessa sposa monna Fremebonda (Valerie Lemercier) inseguita da un orso, che è in realtà il duca suo suocero, e convinto di salvarla lo uccide con la balestra.
