Lo ritrova per caso, come aveva sempre sperato e sognato, cinque anni dopo su un autobus a Parigi. La storia di questa ragazza-madre e dei tre uomini che ama contemporaneamente, ma in modo diverso, sfiora le 2 ore, durata insolita per il passo agile e leggero di Rohmer. Qua e là sembra prolisso: la lunga citazione di The Winter's Tale di Shakespeare; le chiacchierate colte del bibliotecario Loic e dei suoi amici; il microdocumentario su Nevers che conserva le reliquie di santa Bernadette Soubirous. Sono divagazioni, però, non cadute nella prolissità, sostenute dal ritmo decontratto, dall'ironia sommessa, da una sorridente saggezza.
