Without Return Address / 1997

Every woman considers herself happy if she finds three people in one man: a lover, a husband and a father. The heroine of the film did not have this happiness. Mario, an Italian, is the one who replaces her father in her life. Gunar, a private detective, claims to be a lover. The one who could become her husband disappears at the beginning of the film.

Home Address / 2020

Ghar Ka Pata is an autobiographical account of director Madhulika Jalali’s search for her identity as a Kashmiri Pandit woman. In the early 1990s, the six-year-old Madhulika and her household fled Rainawari—a quaint suburb of Srinagar—in response to Kashmir’s separatist insurgency. 24 years later, with no memory of her birthplace, she returns to visit with her family. In retracing her roots, Madhulika weaves a narrative that juxtaposes short, impromptu conversations, filmed on the streets of Rainawari, with a string of family anecdotes. These oral accounts of a bygone era reveal connections extending beyond religion and politics. On a personal level, Madhulika’s film underlines how the pain of exile can linger across generations.

House Without Address / 2010

People come into this world to be happy, but for some reason they often choose suffering instead. After an accident, Anna and bleeding Andrei find themselves in a deserted house - they need help. Andrei is the only close person to her, and Anna is afraid of loosing him. But instead of help in this strange place Anna meets her mother who died a year ago in seniors' home and her unborn son. Anna does not believe she can be happy again, since she has to face the most merciless judge of all - her own conscience. You can change anything if you only want to.

Jean Cocteau Addresses the Year 2000 / 1962

In August 1963, just a couple of months before his death, Jean Cocteau made one last short film. The film comprises one still and highly sober shot of Cocteau facing the camera head-on to address the youth of the future. Once recorded, this spoken message for the 21st century was sealed and stored with the understanding that it would be opened only in the year 2000. As it turned out, it was discovered and exhumed a few years shy of that date. Where in The Testament of Orpheus Cocteau portrays himself as a living anachronism, a lonesome classical modernist loitering in space-time while lost in the spectral light of his memories, here he acknowledges explicitly the irony of his phantom-like state. By the time the viewer sees this image, he, J. C., our saviour Poet, will long be dead.

Looking for the Addressee / 1955

Cinema Address: Krasnogorsk / 1996

All that was filmed by famous and famous cameramen during the century of the existence of cinematography is in the vaults of the Krasnogorsk Film and Photo Archive.
