La petite mort è un'espressione idiomatica della lingua francese, tradotta letteralmente in inglese, che indica uno stato di incoscienza post-orgasmico nel quale possono cadere alcuni soggetti in particolare di sesso femminile. La locandina del film dà semplicemente l'accezione "an orgasm", schietta e catchy come il disegno delle due mani. La pellicola in questione, in realtà, più che una "comedy about sex" è una "comedy about communication about sex", dove anzi la comunicazione non diventa problematica soltanto quando si affronta l'argomento tabù par excellence, quello sessuale appunto, ma incespica un po' dappertutto quando si toccano i temi del rapporto uomo/donna nel film (cioè sempre).
