Notes for a Time/Bank articulates a series of reflections about the political, historical and anthropological necessities for the existence of alternative economies and initiatives, such as time banking. Divided in ten chapters, the film combines researches on historical attempts to implement alternative economies with various commentaries on the nature and value of money.

Broken Notes /

Broken Notes tells the story of James Sunderland, who receives a mysterious letter from his wife (who died three years ago because of leukemia), in order that he go to meet with her to town where they celebrated their honeymoon. Once there, strange events begin to succeed.

Based on films depicting military excersises at the Baltic Sea island Gotland, from the 1930s until today. Through montage, the film is following cinematic tropes in the source material, and studies its materiality and connotations. The voiceover is based on the french writer Francis Ponge’s poem Le carnet du bois de pins (1947).

8mm Film Notes on 16mm / 1971

Structuralist film collage consisting of 8mm film "notes" printed directly on 16mm stock. The images include people and landscapes and the technical difference between the two film formats are emphasised by the presence of perforations, Kodak company marking, spacing, and leader.

Flutter Echoes and Notes Concerning Nature / 2015

In the past Indonesia used to be ruled by mighty Kingdoms that relied on farming and fishing. Those days are over. The amount of farmers diminishes by 100.000 people every year. This film is about two sets of different people who have the same goal. One isabout a female sound recordist who is working on a documentary about hidden pyramids in the Java countryside and in her spare time she is recording sounds of nature. The other is a group of people who are Guerrilla Gardeners, Urban Farmers, who try to bring back a piece of nature into the concrete jungle of Jakarta.

Field Notes is an experimental documentary about the ghosts embedded in the culture of Trinidad and Tobago. The film is structured as a visual and aural field guide to the ghosts spirits and jumbies througout the island. From personal tales about the soucouyant and lagahoo, to the ghosts of Trinidads past. Shot and finished on 16mm.

Tarnished Notes / 2016

Based on true events, Tarnished Notes tells the story of a love triangle murder between a southern Baptist minister of music, his wife, and their lover. In 1984, Jim and Judith Daniels moved to a small town in Eastern North Carolina and as they begin their new life, Jim meets a young man with a troubled past. Judith does what she feels any mother would do to protect her family.

Architecture is a discipline plagued by its own insecurities, a curious mixture of optimism and pessimism, momentary successes and, more commonly, deep frustrations. In this new publication, Michael Meredith, Assistant Professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, tackles the problems facing the discipline head-on, interrogating its internal dynamics and searching for a mode of practice that can survive amid the confusing, conflicting demands of contemporary culture. Nominally addressed to students entering the field, "Notes for those beginning the discipline of architecture" is a scathing take on the profession from one of its emerging young practitioners, outlining its pitfalls, its excruciating failures, and in spite of it all its undeniable potentials.

Notes for a Film About Donna & Gail / 1966

The story of two young women who go to the city to work in a dress factory, and who share a room to ease their expenses and their loneliness. The film shows the currents that brought them together and the facets of their natures that first made them seem compatible but eventually drove them apart. Their story reflects, to a degree, the situation of anyone who has ever shared the life of another.

Notes on her / 2003

Was the only official entry from India for the Oscar awards at Los Angeles in the shorts section-in 2003 -it competed in the honorary foreign film category. The short film “Notes On Her” inspired by Mahashweta devi's 'DRAUPADI AND BASHAI TUDU'. - is about a journalist’s memory of a rebel called Dopdi who never seems to die. It’s an experimental film not following a strict narrative structure and is highly visual with a complimenting sound track which enhances the film’s dark atmosphere. The film was shot in black and white and printed on color to achieve the dark, high contrast, gritty images.

Notes On Being A Lady /

Based on a poem by Kadish Morris, Zodwa Nyoni's film challenges the choreography of rules on femininity that society expects women to perform. In following the instructions, there is a battle between the reflections they see and who they want to be. For black women, dealing with intersections of oppression, race and gender, expectations of behaviour tire the mind and body. On a daily basis they must confront the self and dismantle the rules to live by their own definitions.
