Worry Is A Horizontal / 2015
The pineal gland — otherwise known as the “third eye” — has long been considered a centre for navigation, and helps to maintain the body’s circadian rhythms. In JJ Stratford’s “Worry Is A Horizontal”, which was created using her custom software The Pineal Paintbrush, a resonance wave stimulates an affected person’s pineal gland, providing a transdimensional rendering of existence outside the scope of accepted reality.

Horizon Line / 2009
This film excavates the relationship between social and natural geography of Eastern State Penitentiary, one of the first prisons in the United States. The walls were painted to reflect the horizon line outside the walls; the decay of the prison has turned this two dimensional land and sky into intricate textures and layers: a physical incarnation of the passage of time.
About Next Horizon / 2016
Late at night, pitch black, a car approaches with the lights on. A man walks toward the shore, looking for something. A bunch of illegal immigrants from northern Africa are hiding in the bushes. The man works for the local mobster exploiting the immigrants. They will work at a local mine as modern slaves. Among them is somebody who is not supposed to be there. Sometimes inner conflicts come to the surface. This is the moment to take a look where nobody does, where modern hypocrisy turns other humans into misfits, and not only people from the third world.

Message of the Forest. Towards 'O Horizon' / 2018
Message of the Forest can be heard as an ode to the Sal Forests of West Bengal, or a song for the weathering of parent rocks, or an incantation inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s vision of a world cam- pus that would become Visva-Bharati in Santineketan in West Bengal in 1921.
Zufalls-Horizonte / 1980
Out of over 4,000 ordinance survey maps (scale 1:25,000) charting all of West Germany, 88 maps were selected by random generator. Then random intersections of two coordinates were determined. Between March 1979 and February 1980 I visited the places at these coordinates, going from south to north. If the random place was determined by with the help of the survey map in the landscape, then I set up the camera at eye-level and pointed it northwards. This first shot was followed by 23 other shots, with the camera turning 15 degrees to the right for each next shot. The length of the shots follows a simple pattern: in the beginning, the shots are 6-5-4-3-4-5-6-5...and so seconds long. Towards the middle of the film they become progressively shorter, reaching ¼ of a second before becoming longer again at the end of the film.
