Window / 2012

Mr. Schmidt, a young man who is recovering from a recent nervous breakdown, arrives at a country manor. As he waits for the governess Mrs. Rosenbaum, Schmidt is scared by the gardener but then meets a bored, young woman, Vera, who kindly accompanies him through the house. Vera tells Schmidt about a great tragedy. Precisely three years ago, members of her aunt’s family passed away, but the bodies were never found. Mrs. Rosenbaum does not believe in the death of her relatives and continues to wait for their return. Coming close to madness, Mr. Schmidt escapes from the mansion, and the missing family members return from an actual hunting expedition. As it turns out, Miss Vera makes up legends because of boredom.

The moment when malice takes shape Three young men and a woman are in a room in a flat. One of the men, Satou, has been shot dead, and the woman is crying, but it does not seem to be out of grief over Satou's death. Suzuki and Yamada are arguing about who should look out the window. They have no idea who has been shooting at this room, for what purpose, or at whom. They don't know what they're up against, where they are, or how many people they have. Did the police shoot at them because they had brought a woman into the room to rape her? If so, how did they find out? It could have been a mistake, but there is no way to be sure, and the reality is that there are dead bodies in front of them, and if they go near the window they could be shot. The leader of the group, Suzuki, is frustrated and Yamada tells him about the feelings he has had for Sato. Suzuki is emboldened by his accusation, but at that moment a second bullet is fired into the room .......

One of the first European films commissioned by the countries that signes the Brussels treaty and filmed in the museums of Brussels, Amsterdam, Paris, London, Ghent and The Hague. The film shows, by means of 59 works of art, how painting discovered the landscape once it left the strictly religious context behind. Henri storck wrote, "We have tried to eliminate the artificiality of filming. We have tried to hide the camera in order to immerse the audience in the world of the painting and the landscape that it depicts. We want the viewer to discover the feeling of nature for himself, through the artists.... It is not our ambition to make a critical or informative work." This iconic journey from Bosch to Manet and Turner is accompanied by music by Georges Auric.
